FALL 2025 sample hotspot

Mission Objective:

Identify mature buck travel patterns on secluded ridges, creekbeds, and food edge transitions during pre-rut movement.

Primary Hotspot 1: "North Fork Crossing"

  • GPS Coordinates: 37.0154, -91.2657

  • Access Instructions:
    Park at FS Road 2230 turnoff. Hike south 600 yards. Cross dry creek

        at double sycamore.

  • Terrain Intel:
    Low creekbed funnel with thick canopy. Shifting thermals after 9:00 AM.

  • Movement Summary:
    Mature 10-point crossing at 6:28 AM and 6:50 PM. Does moving midday.

  • Stand/Setup Tip:
    Sit east side for SW wind. Saddle recommended over large oak cluster.

Primary Hotspot 2: "Old Ridge Saddle"

  • GPS Coordinates: XX.XXXX, -XX.XXXX

  • Access Instructions:
    From Brushy Hollow Trailhead, ascend west ridge ¾ mile. Saddle near old cedar break.

  • Terrain Intel:
    Gentle saddle pinches buck travel between bedding.

  • Movement Summary:
    Heavy trail worn, fresh rubline along north side. Bucks crossing low before dawn.

  • Stand/Setup Tip:
    Sit on north edge for N/NW winds. Early morning sits preferred.

Primary Hotspot 3: "Three Pines Funnel"

  • GPS Coordinates: XX.XXXX, -XX.XXXX

  • Access Instructions:
    Pull off FS Spur 45. Follow old logging cut east 400 yards.

  • Terrain Intel:
    Small pine island surrounded by open hardwoods. Natural pinch point.

  • Movement Summary:
    Buck photographed at 7:10 AM and 5:40 PM. Does bedding 150 yards SE.

  • Stand/Setup Tip:
    Entry only from south. Hunt mornings or rainy evenings for stealth.

Primary Hotspot 4: "West Ridge Rubline"

  • GPS Coordinates: XX.XXXX, -XX.XXXX

  • Access Instructions:
    Use FS 46 gate. Follow deer trail west ¾ mile through low pines.

  • Terrain Intel:
    Rocky ridge with heavy mid-story browse.

  • Movement Summary:
    12 rubs in 50 yards. Major scrape reactivated Oct 7th.

  • Stand/Setup Tip:
    Hunt 30 yards off main rubline trail. NW winds best. Ground blind option viable.

  • DIRECTIONS AND TOPO OF AREA

Primary Hotspot 5: "Broken Creekbed Crossing"

  • GPS Coordinates: XX.XXXX, -XX.XXXX

  • Access Instructions:
    Park at FS 2200/2205 fork. Hike west 800 yards.

  • Terrain Intel:
    Broken creekbed forming three natural crossings within 100 yards.

  • Movement Summary:
    Bucks crossing most mornings between 7:00–8:30 AM. Minimal human sign.

  • Stand/Setup Tip:
    Focus on north crossing first. Hunt light winds from east.

Special Note:

  • October Thermals: Pull scent hard into bottoms after 9:00 AM.

  • Moon Phase: Rising moon 3 days prior to movement spike (documented).
